This padding was more substantial than I thought it would be when I ordered it. It is plenty thick, and has a cover-flap with velcro that secures it. The outside texture is rubberized, so it is easy to grip, and it went through hell and back in the convention center for Comic-Con (through the crowds, halls, and even sleeping on concrete). I slept, dropped, and kicked my bag and not a scratch on my DSLR. The only thing I don’t know about is water resistance. I did spill anything on it, and I didn’t set it down on anything wet; so I have no idea how this case would behave. Great for what I need it for though; a nice home for my DSLR. Oh, and it came with two velcro dividers made of the same material and padding as the case itself and a lens sleeve.

I have been searching for months trying to find a padded insert solution to turn my small timbuk2 bag into a camera bag. All of the local shops don’t seem to carry inserts or any type of solution close to what I am looking for, and it is really hard to buy online in this case because you really want to try before you buy to make sure it fits. I took a chance with this insert, based on dimensions and great reviews. Needless to say it works great. Fits right inside of my timbuk2 bag and the soft flexible shell allows it to form to the bags shape. The great thing about this insert is that I can use it in other bags too, and it’s cover protects it from other items in the bag. Great buy.

Fits my messenger bag well. i can put my d90 with 17-55 and and another lens comfortably in it. I can lay my sb600 across the top.
