  • I love this mp3 player, it’s small and easy to get to the songs. The speaker isn’t all that loud unless you put the player up to your ear but I still love it.

I really like this Mozaic and the gb. However…I cannot for the life of me figure out what button to push for which action. This has been very frustrating. I have read the keypad instructions over & over, but still don’t get it. I’m sure I’m just confused; in other words, it’s me not the Mozaic. I have 2 other Creative Zens and they are not hard at all to manipulate. Can anyone help me or should I remain helpless? Sound is good.

This product is not what I was hoping for. This product and many other Zen Products do not work well with long files or audio books downloaded from Net Library. If that is how you plan to use this product Beware. I suggest you go to the support forum and check out all the frustrated customers who are dealing with this problem. I have contacted Tech support several times on this issue with no real help being offered.

This product is a vehicle for Creative to get you to spend money with Audible.com.

When you contact support they say:

“The Zen Mozaic supports audio book in Audible.com format (.aa) but is not guaranteed to work if the audio book is from other sources or other formats due to the long filesize. As you can see that the Zen Mozaic only supports format 4 for Audible audio book as stated in the following article.

In my book this is Tech Support speak for tough luck we got your money and now your only choice is to live with the problem or pay us more by being forced to use audible.com.

    Customer service this is not.

In addition to this problem I have come to find the buttons too small and difficult to use especially if you are doing it by feel.

My suggestion is to stay away!!!

This is my fourth Creative Labs MP3 player, and almost my favorite (#1 is the original Nomad Jukebox).

-The compact size is great for pretty much any sort of physical activity.

-The sound is pretty good through earphones, but I don’t bother with the built-in-speaker (sound is too weak).

-The included headphones were useful for taking up a little bit of space in my trash can, because they go straight there after coming out of the Mozaic box. CL headphones have always been trash IMHO, and I treat them as such. Personally, I’d spring for a set of Sennheiser CX300-B Earbuds.

-I don’t bother with videos on the Mozaic. Yes, the screen is big considering the size of the player, but couple that with the fact that you need to convert files before being able to watch them, and the video feature is about as useful as a knife at a soup eating contest.

-Album art gets imported with the music and shows up while you play music from said album (I used WMP to push my music over).

-Moving music to the player is “cut-and-paste” easy, or you can sync through Windows Media Player.

-FM Radio works fairly well, but your headphones act as the antenna. I don’t find this to be a problem since I don’t use the external speaker.

-The buttons could be bigger, but only really presents as an issue when I’m doing some sort of cardio exercise.

-The customizable button is a really nice feature. I use mine as a random play all.

-Battery life is great. I use it 3-5 days a week at the gym for an hour or so and don’t need a recharge before the weekend.

-I’ve had it lock up a few times, but thankfully CL made the reset orifice big enough so that you can fit the tip of your 3.5mm headphone jack in there…my other MP3 players needed some sort of straight pin to do a reset.

This is my third mp3 player from creative Labs. Each one has been an upgrade in capacity. However, this one has been the most satisfying of all three. I will be purchasing one for my daughter by Christmas, i am sure.
